On 30 June 2023, Marina Taylor facilitated a very successful workshop with 8 of our Business Owners which focused on developing the following:

  • Confident Communication skills
  • Growth of Leadership skills
  • SMARTER Goal Setting to prosper
  • Develop tools to help simplify to amplify your life
  • Transform your mindset positively.

The workshop was co-funded by WellingtonNZ, who are looking to support Pasifika businesses with growing capacity and capability through implementing the Regional Economic Development Plan. We greatly appreciate their support!

I wasn't too sure what to expect. But Marina delivered an amazing workshop that has helped me define my business and personal goals. It was also great for WellingtonNZ to come in and explain their work and how they can also help my businesses. Thank you WPBN!

As part of the partnership agreement between the Ministry for Pacific Peoples (MPP) and the Wellington Pasifika Business Network (WPBN), one of the key objectives is to promote MBIE’s Digital Boost Programme. To fulfil this commitment, WPBN leveraged the resources of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, utilising their programme to provide an expert facilitator, who guided each business owner through the learning curriculum.

We recently celebrated the outstanding career of the Honourable Aupito Tofae Su’a William Sio. With 16 years of dedicated service in the public sector, the Honourable Aupito has been a tireless advocate for Pacific peoples. His relentless commitment to fostering inclusivity, empowerment, and progress has made a lasting impact on the lives of Pasifika individuals and communities across Aotearoa New Zealand and the broader Pacific region.

The Board extends their appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of this event. Special thanks to Sanele Chadwick from Tautua Media Content Creators and Mark Fa’amaoni, our talented photographer from Big Mark. We are also grateful to Manaaki Management for providing the fantastic venue and delicious food, AV Media for their technical expertise and equipment, Thirteen Thirty for event styling, the Ex Nihilo Gospel Band for their amazing music, and Anamou Dance and Tofi o Tamatane for their incredible Pasifika dance performances.

WPBN collaborated alongside Wellington NZ, Victoria University of Wellington, and their Pasifika Student Council to host a networking event for Pasifika businesses and students.

Pasifika students were invited to come along to connect with local Pasifika business leaders and empower the students that will be our future Pasifika business leaders.   We were able to pass on vital networking and professional skills to the next generation while celebrating the many forms of Pasifika success over food, stories, and activities.  Six of our WPBN members spoke about their business journeys.  The feedback from the students was excellent.

Recently, the Power of Three Strategic Alliance, with the support of principal sponsor, Deloitte, invited the Minister of Finance, the Hon. Grant Robertson to present the 13th Annual Pre-Budget Address, at Parliament.

It was great to hear about the Minister’s priorities around supporting affected businesses and families through the effects of the recent cyclone and flooding. It was also positive to hear that as part of the focus on alleviating the impact of climate change, the Government is mindful of targeting adaptation and resilience initiatives, such as. the recent announcement to increase the amount allocated to the Adaptation Fund by $15 million.
